About me
I started out painting monsters with my daughter as collaborator-in-chief (she was three with an enviable imagination).
Inevitably she lost interest when she became a teenager and I started doodling monsters mash-ups, Halloween pumpkin headed dudes and stick figures in cowboy hats.
The cowboys stuck.
Only I don’t really see them strictly, as cowboys.
I’m from the UK, I’ve lived in Texas for 33 years and a ‘cowboy’ has always been a mythical figure, not something you arrive at by adding boots, a big buckle and a Stetson.
It’s someone who is self reliant, fair and honest. An embodiment of principle who shows no interest in the frivolous. It’s a figure walking with confidence in a landscape, a region that he has formed or that has formed him.
I’ve been lucky to have met men and women like this over the years and I have a couple in my family.
